The Goodnight Bird | by Colleen Murphy
A dark comedy about old love and new courage.
Lilly is retired. Her husband Morgan isn’t ready to call it quits. One night, their bedtime routine, complete with bickering about how to floss without spitting on the mirror, is interrupted by a loud thunk. A younger, homeless man has fallen onto their balcony. His intrusion is the catalyst for Morgan and Lilly to examine their lives, their regrets, and their relationship. What begins as a comedic play takes a turn towards the unexpected, the strange, and the sorrowful, before the light of a new day dawns. This play contains strong language and is intended for an adult audience.
Directed by Andrea Boyd and featuring Mary-Colin Chisholm, Henricus Gielis and Wally MacKinnon. This show runs from August 7 to August 23.
“Playwright Colleen Murphy has produced a superb dark comedy.”
