[Antigonish, NS] – Renowned Maritime musician David Myles is set to bring his highly anticipated Devil Talking concert tour to the Bauer Theatre in Antigonish on November 15 at 7:30 pm. With his signature mix of soulful melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and infectious charm, Myles promises an unforgettable night of music that will resonate with fans of all ages. Known for his genre-crossing style—from blues and folk to rock ’n’ roll—Myles has crafted a performance that is both intimate and electrifying, making this one-night event truly unmissable.

Festival Antigonish is thrilled to welcome Myles as part of the F.A.S.T. Presentation Series, tapping into the region’s love for live music. “With his world-class artistry and magnetic stage presence, Myles has become one of the Maritimes’ most celebrated entertainers,” says Artistic Director Andrea Boyd. His performances have a way of drawing the audience in, inviting them into each song with the same passion he’s poured into his more than 15 albums, which span everything from reflective Americana to funk instrumentals. “On stage, Myles has a unique ability to captivate with a polished yet relaxed energy, transforming every concert into a shared experience that feels personal and communal all at once,” adds Boyd.

Reflecting on the upcoming Antigonish show, Myles says, “I can’t wait to play in Antigonish! It’s been so long. I love that town—my mum went to school there until Dad drew her back to Fredericton! This tour is extra special because I’m working with a great, versatile band that lets us build a dynamic show, with lots of singing and songs from across my career. There’s a unique energy that comes with live performance, and I can’t wait to share that experience with the Antigonish audience. See you soon!”

With two Juno Awards and an artist profile that has gained national recognition, Myles is a musician known for making deep connections through song. His latest album, Devil Talking, dives into life’s messier moments with honesty, singing about “partying, making mistakes, falling apart, and trying to pull yourself together again,” Myles says.  Known affectionately as his “sinnin’ record,” Devil Talking pushes Myles into new territory, exploring themes of vulnerability and resilience with soulful, bluesy, and rock-infused tracks that are bound to strike a chord with every listener. The album continues the rich creative journey he began with his 2022 JUNO-winning That Tall Distance and the contemplative It’s Only a Little Loneliness, which explored love, loss, and faith.

David Myles’ work ethic and passion for storytelling extend beyond the stage. His podcast Myles From Home delves into conversations with fellow artists, further connecting him to audiences through stories of the human experience. Now, he’s ready to connect in person again with his beloved Maritime fans, bringing his biggest and most dynamic show yet to Antigonish.

About DAVID
With two Junos to his credit, David Myles has established himself as a world-class entertainer with an uncanny knack for dispersing profound truths about the human condition through dynamic songwriting. Born and based in New Brunswick, he’s a sonic shapeshifter with more than 15 albums that run the gamut—in English and French—through classic folk traditions, impassioned rock ‘n’ roll, earthy, existential blues, cosmic jazz and funk instrumentals, reflective Americana, and sweltering R&B. And on stage—whether solo or accompanied by a full band—the music is tight and the vibe is loose, with Myles able to command, charm, and uplift audiences in both intimate clubs and grand theatres. The throughline in his work is a deep understanding of our need for connection and an attempt to reach out and make them through musical collaboration, live performance, or deep-digging, heart-to-heart conversations with fellow artists on his podcast and video series Myles From Home.

Myles’ latest offering is what he likes to call his “sinnin’ record,” the spirited Devil Talking—an album that finds him drawing on his many well-honed musical modes to sing about “partying, making mistakes, falling apart and trying to pull yourself together again.” Devil Talking builds on a special era of Myles’ career, a time of creative blossoming during which he’s worked with a core team of musicians to construct some of the most powerful and soul-searching work in his oeuvre. It began in 2021 with the multitudinous That Tall Distance, which won the 2022 JUNO Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, and continued on with 2022’s It’s Only a Little Loneliness, which explored love, loss, and faith. These years of close collaboration have found Myles embracing every facet of his self and artistry, creating a lush, sophisticated sound that defies easy categorization.

His relentless work ethic has earned him numerous awards and accolades; a robust artist profile stateside; and a feature and co-writing credit on “Inner Ninja,” a cross-genre collaboration with rapper Classified and the biggest-selling rap single in the history of Canadian music. On top of Myles From Home, his various projects including a 2018 children’s book called Santa Never Brings Me a Banjo, and Singing For Supper, a long-running concert series that raises money for local food banks.

About Devil Talking Album and concert

On his 16th record, Devil Talking, David Myles cuts loose, bares his soul, and leaves it all on the table. The New Brunswick-based song and dance man has never been one to shy away from heavy topics like love, loss, and faith, but over his career he’s tried his best to stay positive. Amongst the soulful, bluesy, rockin’, and countrified grooves of Devil Talking, Myles knocks down the walls he’s constructed to protect his vulnerable self, and instead dives headlong into what makes him—and all of us—human: suffering, and all the many ways we cope with it. Aptly, the album contains some of Myles’ most intimate and honest songwriting, buoyed by the liberating power of accepting your flawed self. He’s grown fond of calling Devil Talking his sinnin’ record.

“I wanted to sing about partying, making mistakes, falling apart and trying to pull yourself together again,” Myles says. “More and more, I realize these are the things we hold in common. We’re not perfect—we mess things up and we try to find ways to move forward. And then we do it all again. But this is what it means to be human. It’s not all fairy tales. I wanted to write songs about embracing the highs and the lows we all experience.”
