ROLE: Box Office Assistant
START DATE: June 22, 2026 
RATE of PAY: $17/hr

DURATION: 35 hrs/week for 10 weeks

Festival Antigonish is seeking an enthusiastic student to join our team through the Nova Scotia Skills Summer Employment Program. This position is geared towards students in theatre programs who are seeking professional work experience.

Position Summary 

The Box Office Assistant will be part of a team responsible for maintaining efficient and accurate operations at the box office and front-of-house, including: managing ticket sales; handling cash and debit; responding to patron questions and concerns; preparing daily show reports; managing the customer database; liaising with sponsors and corporate groups; providing the highest quality of customer service; and being a tourism ambassador for the Antigonish region by sharing knowledge of local eateries, hotels, and shops with visitors who enjoy our theatre each summer.
This position is an integral part of the Front-of-House team, building and maintaining customer relations and ensuring the delivery of a successful season
of theatre.

Assets: 

  • Experience with sales, customer service, and cash handling
  • Experience working in a theatre environment
    A current student in theatre, arts, or related field an asset

Eligibility Requirements (Nova Scotia Summer Skills) 

Applicants must be: 

  • entering or continuing full time post-secondary studies in the fall semester immediatel following the work term.
    a permanent resident of the province or live in Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term. This requirement can be waived for international students who plan to stay in Nova Scotia after the work term

Position Summary 

The Education & Outreach Assistant will support the Director of Education and Community Engagement in delivering engaging and impactful youth theatre programs and community outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will work with diverse community groups to foster engagement with the summer festival, including seniors, youth groups, diverse cultural communities, and community service organizations. Their role will focus on creating a safe and welcoming environment by helping to remove barriers to access through discounts, complimentary tickets, and organizing specialty performance nights or events tailored for these groups.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with youth theatre camps, 

  • Liaising with parents and supporting the development of youth drama curricula; 

  • Front-line audience engagement, such as ushering and providing support to the Front of House team to ensure exceptional patron services; 

  • Assisting with event logistics

Assets: 

  • Experience in program coordination, customer service, communication, and community engagement; 

  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to work with diverse groups, and a passion for creating inclusive and accessible theatre experiences; 

  • Experience in education or outreach initiatives is considered an asset; 

  • A current student in theatre, arts, or related field is considered an asset.
