Accessibility
Everyone Belongs at the Theatre
Festival Antigonish is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive theatre experience for everyone. We believe the arts should be accessible to all members of our community and strive to remove barriers wherever possible.
Through accessible performances, inclusive community events, and venue accommodations, we work to ensure that everyone can enjoy the magic of live theatre at the Bauer Theatre.
Accessible Performances
Festival Antigonish offers a variety of performance options designed to make theatre more accessible to a wide range of audiences.
Pay What You Can Previews
Pay What You Can (PWYC) preview performances allow audiences to pay whatever amount they feel comfortable with. This flexible pricing model helps reduce financial barriers and makes theatre more accessible to everyone in our community.
Relaxed Performances
Relaxed performances are specially adapted shows designed to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism, or other conditions that benefit from a more flexible theatre setting.
During relaxed performances:
- Audience members are free to move around if needed
- House lights remain partially on
- Sound and lighting effects may be softened
- A relaxed and supportive atmosphere is encouraged
Babes-in-arms are welcome at these performances.
Community Events
Festival Antigonish also hosts events that celebrate and support different communities.

Our annual Arts and Cultures Market celebrates diverse creativity, featuring local IBPOC artisans.
