THEATRE ANTIGONISH PRESENT THEIR ANNUAL COMMUNITY THEATRE AWARDS

On April 2nd, Theatre Antigonish celebrated the community members who helped make the 2025-26 season a success.

Erin Doyle: The Dr Hubert J. Spekkens Award is presented in remembrance of the passion and the dedication exemplified by the work of Dr Hubert J. Spekkens. The Award is given to a volunteer demonstrating dedication to the excellence of the craft of Technical Theatre over a significant number of productions.
Andrew Murray: The Russell Alcorn Award is presented annually by the Board of Directors to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the activities of Theatre Antigonish over the past year or years, and whose contribution reflects the qualities of dedication, unselfish service, artistic integrity, and a generous spirit of support and cooperation for which Russell Alcorn was known and admired.
Marcus Fuller: The Eleanor Mutimer Award was created to commemorate the tremendous contribution made by Mrs. Mutimer to theatre in the community during her tenure as a teacher at Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School. The award is presented at the discretion of the Board of Directors to a student in elementary or high school who has taken part in Theatre Antigonish activities with distinction.
Brent Bannerman: The Father Cyril Bauer Award was created in memory of one of St.FX's most staunch and generous supporters of the theatre for the University and the community. the Father Cyril Bauer Award is given to an individual in recognition of a significant contribution to theatre in Antigonish. It is not limited to volunteers or those involved in TA productions and the recipient may be active in any aspect of the Theatre in our community. This award acknowledges a major commitment over time to the support, promotion and growth of our local Theatre Culture.
Kate Lamont, Hollie Spicer, Tayte McHugh, Marley Pickett, Gabi Cherniak, Samantha Benoit: The Theatre X is presented to students who have been involved in Theatre Antigonish in a meaningful way in the awarding year, demonstrating commitment, ability, work ethic, and contribution to the ensemble.
Audrey Cochrane, Liam Oko: Theatre Antigonish Performance Award is awarded to students or community who displayed excellence in acting, outstanding contribution to the ensemble, leadership and commitment.
Janet Becignal, Michael Steinitz: Certificate of Appreciation is awarded to members of the community who have shown a passion and devotion to Theatre Antigonish and its importance in our community.
